Kyoto Microcomputer's PARTNER-Jet supports Windows CE debugging.
KMC empowered Windows CE installed device development
For immediate release:
Kyoto Japan, August 8, 2007:
Kyoto Microcomputer Co., Ltd. (KMC) today announced that KMC started shipping Windows CE debugging option for the KMC's flagship JTAG In-circuit Emulator (ICE), PARTNER-Jet. By using this potion, developers can develop the software for Windows CE embedded devices, and developers can also evaluate the Windows CE performance from the CPU level through application level. As Windows CE debugging option is distributed as an option for PARTNER-Jet, the developers who are already using PARTNER-Jet, is just purchasing the option and it enables Windows CE debugging. This option supports Windows CE for ARM, MIPS, and SH CPUs and Windows CE 5.0 and Windows Embedded CE 6.0 debugging.
Hardware debug tool such as ICE is not very effective for the debugging on Windows CE today. Developers are often using the debugging function including Windows CE Platform Builder. This development environment requires Ethernet connection or some other function for communication for debugging. However, we have received many requests that developers want to debug without connecting network. KMC enabled Windows CE debugging by PARTNER-Jet only by implementing debug function to analyze Windows CE and translate debug information for Windows CE from the compiler.
Debugging Windows CE by ICE provides Windows CE developers debug kernel, drivers and applications without using Platform Builder and Visual Studio. This means source code debugging is possible without modifying release version software. Moreover, with PARTNER-Jet Windows CE debug option offers developers to debug the source code of gebooth, the dedicated boot loader which is used to be almost impossible to debug its source code with the debuggers existing as of today.
By utilizing this option, it is possible to analyze and debug the complicated and critical problems of debugging around the interruption, developing device drivers, or hung-up in OS. PARTNER-Jet Windows CE debugging option also supports Microsoft's eXDI2, the specification for In-circuit emulator connection. Developers can use PARTNER-Jet for controlling debugger H/W and Platform Builder, already accustomed developing environment, for user interface when it is not required full function of ICE and can make up the software for debugging.
